On October 6th we held our annual cookout at the park. This is something that along with our December holiday party we all look forward to. We start by doing a little basic karate and kumite, then it is time for fun! It is a potluck and everyone brings delicious food and we’re also incredibly lucky because we have two amazing chefs in our dojo. For the cookout, one of them makes ramen right there in our picnic area. Therefore, I’m pretty sure our dojo has the best food for our special events in the USA and possibly the world.

As for the kids, they enjoy a water gun fight and this year some of them brought some serious water guns leaving every child completely soaked. They also do “suica wari” which is watermelon breaking. There is a blindfold put over their eyes and the kids have to direct them to where the watermelon is so they can take a big swing with a stick and hopefully hit and break it.
